Special Delivery Neighborhood Housing Services of Asheville, a nonprofit organization, presents an evening of art and affordable housing innovation. Preview ten premier affordable and sustainable home designs of The HOME House Project. Bid on 23 “creatively altered” doors at The Doors of Asheville Auction, featuring the work of area artists. Date: September 11, 2004, beginning at 6:30pm with a cocktail reception, followed by the auction at 7:30pm. Location: Homewood, 19 Zillicoa Street in the Montford area of Asheville. Tickets: $55 per person or $100 per couple. Proceeds will assist NHS in its mission of providing opportunities for affordable homeownership and promoting neighborhood revitalization. For the first time ever, development along the French Broad River in the Asheville area is becoming a reality. Developers are planning construction of The River Condominiums to begin in the late summer, with completion about 16 months after the groundbreaking.

“Waterfront property has always been in high demand,” said project developer Tony Cecil with Urban Spaces, located in Asheville. “Plus, we are just minutes from downtown, but without the downtown prices.” Read the rest of this entry »
